Tips For Bridesmaid Dress Shopping

Next to finding the perfect wedding dress, finding the perfect bridesmaid dresses can be the next most difficult thing. I’ve got a few tips to make things a little less stressful and difficult when picking out the perfect dress for your bridesmaids.

Watch how the search for the perfect bridesmaid dresses went for me:

1.  Do your Research- Go online and look at a few styles that you like so you can go into your appointment with an idea of what you’re looking for making it easier to narrow it down. Also, go into the the store alone or with one other person before bringing the rest of your group. This is a great way to narrow your choices down before the group appointment.

2. Give your self time- You should begin your shopping for bridesmaid dresses about  7-8 months before your big day to allow enough time for alterations & delivery of dresses.

3. Budget- Be open and considerate of the budget of your bridal party. Make sure to keep the cost of alterations in mind when discussing this budget. If there is a dress that you just love, but is out of budget for your bridesmaids, take into consideration covering the extra costs.

4. Measurements- Ask your girls to be professionally measured, especially if she cannot join the appointment. This will be very helpful when ordering the dresses and it will also cut down on alterations.

5. Season, style, complexion and hair color-These four things are things to consider when choosing dresses. The season and location will help you determine the length and material of the dress. Another thing to keep in mind is the style of your wedding gown. Ask yourself if your dress formal, bohemian, classic, etc? From there it will be easier for you to decide on the style of their dresses and avoid any clashing.  Lastly, the complexion of your bridesmaids skin and even hair color can help you decide on the hue of the color you’ve chosen, so don’t overlook that small detail.
