Tips For Engagement Photos
Tips For Engagement Photos
Photos are a great way to remember special moments throughout your wedding journey. Planning your wedding can go by quickly, so that’s why I think it’s important to take photos along the way so you can look back on everything. First and foremost are engagements photos, and since I’ve been sharing tips from everything from Tips for Throwing an Engagement Party to Tips For Bridesmaids Dress Shopping and everything in between, I thought I’d share Tips for Engagement Photos too, so keep reading!
1. Outfits
When deciding what to wear, I always say stick to what you’re comfortable in! Although you may want to go out and buy new outfits, this may be the time to stick to something you know you look and feel great in. Stick with outfits that are comfortable and allow you to move around in. Also keep in mind that you don’t have to match exactly with your fiancé. Instead choose similar colors or complementary colors and most importantly make sure your outfits both are for the same occasion and coordinate with the location.
2. Location
This is the opportunity for you and your fiancé to visit some of your favorite spots or take a walk down memory lane to the first place you met . But the location is all up to you and the look you want for your photos. Just like the outfit you wear, it’s always better to choose a place you both feel fits your personalities and that you would actually visit. Benji and I chose to take photos all around our hometown of Seattle. It just felt right and it had great mix of city and nature that served as beautiful backdrops for our photos.
3.Makeup
If you plan on getting your makeup done for your wedding, your engagement shoot date may be a good time to do a test trial with your makeup artist. Accentuating your beauty and not going overboard on makeup is so important for your engagement photos. So keep it simple. Gather some makeup inspiration to share with your makeup artist or just for yourself if you plan on doing your own makeup. For more inspiration watch some of my makeup tutorials HERE.
4. Posing
The most important tip when taking engagement photos is to just be relaxed and have fun with your fiancé. From there it’s up to your photographer to capture the sweet moments and chemistry that you two will naturally have. You can always study other engagement photos for inspiration, but don’t over think it. The moments where you act natural will more likely come out better in photos than anything that is overly posed or thought out.
