In my latest First Impressions Review, I wanted to see how well the NEW Rimmel Show Off Lip Velvet Lip Lacquer’s would hold up throughout the day. It says that it’s a “weightless liquid color with velvety smooth finish, that will stay true for up to 8 Hours and that it increases lip moisture.”
The packaging for the Show Off Lip Laquer had a crystal/diamond looking cap and a doe foot applicator. As for the scent, it was a slight and subtle floral scent that wasn’t too over powering.
My lips were quite dry before trying this lip color out so I was interested in seeing if it would actually moisturize my lips.
When I applied the first layer of color I liked how it made my lips feel like silk! After another 30 seconds I applied another layer on top and waited for it to dry. I thought that it would immediately dry to a matte feel but it was still glossy and my lips still felt moisturized.
I liked that it feels like silk on your lips, it’s light weight and super pigmented!
After a few hours (2 hours) my lips were finally, completely matte. What I did notice a little bit of transfer after testing it on the back of my hands and that my lips became even more dry than it was before. With that said, I didn’t expect that matte product (although it claimed) to stay moisturized anyway.
I added a bit of moisture to my lips just to see if that would help and I checked back in at the end of the night to see how it held up.
About 7 hours later I decided to do my final review because it didn’t quite last up to that point and wouldn’t hold up another hour.
The lip color didn’t last only leaving traces of what looks like lipliner. And even though I added some extra moisture mid day, my lips were quite dry and peeling. From my experience, this isn’t a long lasting color, it’s definitely a lip product that needs to be touched up throughout the day.
What I did notice is that you will still get the intensity of the color when you reapply the Lip Lacquer, but it will intensify the dry spots that are on your lips.
TIP: My biggest tip for this product is to make sure to exfoliate and moisturize before applying
Also, I wouldn’t depend on this color to last all day. I think it would be best to wear this for a night out!
