COVERGIRL Ultra Smooth Foundation First Impression Review
During one of my latest Drugstore Hauls I picked up the New Covergirl Ultra Smooth Foundation. Many of you requested a First Impression Review on it, so keep reading to see my thoughts and first impression of this foundation!
What caught my eye about this foundation while at the drugstore was the packaging. It was a little different. It included a small rubber applicator.
The Ultra Smooth Foundation retails $14.5o for under 1 oz of product, which in my opinion is a little pricey for a drugstore and Covergirl foundation.
It claims to “instantly smooth away redness blemishes and unevenness, for a flawless effect.”
The directions says to apply the product onto the applicator and then apply it to your face.
I find that it applies thick when applying it as directed. It feels like the foundation is just sliding around on top of my skin and it didn’t feel like it absorbed at all. So since that wasn’t working for me I decided to use a brush to finish the application instead.
After applying it to one side of my face I noticed that it has a light to medium coverage since you can still see the redness through the foundation.
Right off the bat, I can say that I don’t like the applicator it came with. I’d suggest that if you use this foundation, skip the applicator and apply it with a beauty blender or a brush.
Even after 10 minutes of applying the Ultra Smooth Foundation, it still felt sticky and hadn’t set. Since it was still was sticky I found that I wasn’t able to apply powder on top of it very well.
Besides that, it looks flawless, natural and because of the light to medium coverage, it didn’t look like I have foundation on. I also liked that it photographs nicely.
After a few more minutes and this selfie, the foundation finally felt like it set. =)
At my afternoon check in, I thought that the foundation looked great completion wise, but I am obviously a bit oily. So I decided to apply a light layer of powder.
At the end of the night, the first thing I noticed was that my face was very shiny. Since I have oily skin, I wasn’t too surprised even with the midday touch up , my oils still came through.
My initial impression from the Covergirl Ultra Smooth Foundation, is that the applicator was different but I didn’t find it useful at all. It had great coverage at first making my skin look flawless. But because I have oily combo skin, I didn’t find it to be helpful for me, but I imagine this working for someone with more dry skin.
