I recently picked up the Maybelline Color Blur lipstick and I was curious to see how it would apply and hold up through a First Impression review. I picked “I like to Mauve It,” a color that I thought looked like a great everyday color.

The Maybelline Color blur retails around $8 and it is a two sided lip color. One end is the lip color and on the other is the blender/smudger which is made of plastic, to help blend for the ombre look.

In the photos I think that the ombre application looks unfinished, but I wanted to try it out for my self.

Here’s how it looks with the suggested application. I applied it to the middle and used the other end to blend out for the “ombre” affect. I think it looks a little undone this way and I didn’t like how it looked, just as I predicted.

I preferred using the lip color just like a normal lipstick and filling in my entire lips. I really enjoyed the outcome with this application.

I love the feel of the product on my lips. It is smooth and has a matte finish. It’s not creamy as it is described to be, but it is lightweight and not tacky.

2 Hours later

They do not claim that this is a long lasting color, but I wanted to see how it would hold up throughout the day anyway. After a few hours and eating a bit of greasy food, this is how the lip color looked.

For the most part the color stayed in place except for the inner parts of my lips and I found that it wasn’t drying at all. I touched up one last time and decided to check in again later.

About 7 hours later, you can still color on my lips but at this point it faded and it was a little drying.

Pros: Easy to apply, smooth velvet finish, long lasting, reapplying is easy and the product is unscented.

Cons: The smudger wasn’t useful, towards the end of the day my lips became dry and I’d like to see more colors added to the line.

If you’ve tried the Maybelline Color Blur for yourself, please comment below and tell me your thoughts on it and which color you picked up!
